Canvas, the University’s Learning Management System, will be unavailable for up to 15 minutes during maintenance performed by the vendor (Instructure) between 1:05 and 3:05 a.m. ET on Thursday, April. 4. Please be sure to complete all transactions (for example, the creation/submission of new quizzes and quiz answers) and exit the system by 1 a.m. ET on Thursday morning, as incomplete transactions may be terminated when the system goes offline.

Pitt Information Technology has consulted with the University Center for Teaching and Learning about this maintenance, which was scheduled by the vendor to ensure continued security, stability, and reliability of the system. There will be no notable changes to the user interface and no action required by users once the update is completed.

To ensure a smooth transition, Pitt IT will be monitoring the progress and actively engaged with the vendor. In the unlikely event that an issue arises, the vendor will revert to the original database configuration and Pitt IT will send an email notification, as well as post an update to status.pitt.edu.
