Preparation for Facilities Repairs Will Affect MyResNet Wi-Fi Service Overnight on Friday

Scheduled for Apr 4, 23:00 EDT  -  Apr 5, 03:00 EDT

Scheduled

In May, Facilities Management needs to perform repairs on a steam tunnel beneath Fifth Avenue that is a crucial pathway for campus utility systems, such as electric, steam, water, and telecommunications. To accommodate this work, Pitt Information Technology must relocate network fiber in the steam tunnel during a series of maintenance periods over the next several weeks.

The first maintenance period is scheduled for Friday, April 4, at 11 p.m., through Saturday, April 5, at 3 a.m. At some point during the maintenance period, MyResNet Wi-Fi service will be unavailable for up to thirty minutes in each of the following locations: Darragh Street Apartments, Irvis Hall, Lothrop Hall, Nordenberg Hall, Panther Hall, Sutherland Hall, and University Hall. PittNet Wired and Wi-Fi service will remain available.

In addition, Comcast cable TV service will be unavailable for up to thirty minutes between 11 p.m. on Friday and 3 a.m. on Saturday in each of the following locations: Fitzgerald Field House, Irvis Hall, Panther Hall, Petersen Sports Complex, Sutherland Hall, and Trees Hall.

Additional maintenance periods will be announced as soon as they have been scheduled. Pitt IT is coordinating this weekend’s maintenance with Boldyn Networks, our partner and service provider for MyResNet Wi-Fi, who will be onsite to make certain MyResNet service is restored. In the event of any delays or issues during maintenance, updates will be posted to status.pitt.edu.

Please contact the Technology Help Desk at +1-412-624-HELP (4357) if you experience any network issues following completion of the maintenance. This effort is being led by John Petersen, associate director of service delivery.
